Gold buyback terms

When it is time to sell.

From your first enquiry to our final offer, it is important to understand how the buyback price is set and what affects the valuation. Here are the terms for bars, gold coins and scrap gold.

Our current buyback programme.

The catalogue groups gold bars by weight and manufacturer, and gold coins and ducats by series and denomination. A product does not have to be available for sale to appear in our buyback range.

Bars have separate price groups: up to and including 20 g, and over 20 g. Within these groups, the exact buyback price depends on the denomination. Check the price and list of manufacturers on your bar's card.

Buyback and retail prices.

The buyback price is lower than our retail price for a comparable product. The difference varies between bars and coins, depending on the product type, denomination and current market conditions.

Indicatively, the difference for bars up to and including 20 g is around 6–17%, and around 6–8% for the larger denominations shown in this catalogue. For Franc Joseph ducats and Vienna Philharmonics, it is approximately 6–13%. These ranges are for comparison; prices change with the market and do not constitute a pre-agreed offer.

An indicative comparison helps you plan a sale, while the specific amount for your denomination is shown in the catalogue. The displayed price is indicative; the final offer is confirmed after the product has been examined.

Older issues and different designs.

The year in the photograph is not a condition of buyback. If you have an older issue, a different design or a special edition, send us the product details before visiting so that we can arrange an individual valuation.

For bars and coins outside our current catalogue, terms and prices are agreed individually. “By arrangement” means that you need to enquire about your particular product.

Condition, packaging and documentation.

Keep the original packaging and accompanying documentation if you have them, and mention them in your enquiry. If packaging or documentation is missing, contact us to arrange an assessment and agree the terms for buying your product.

Scratches, deformation, opened packaging and other damage should be mentioned in advance. The catalogue price does not automatically apply to such products; the offer is determined after an individual examination.

Scrap gold: weight and fineness.

The scrap gold price in our catalogue is expressed in dinars per gram of fine, or pure, gold. It is based on the current spot price, less the buyback deduction shown alongside the price.

This is not the price per gram of jewellery or another item. During assessment, we establish its weight and fineness: the proportion of its weight that is fine gold. The displayed price therefore cannot simply be multiplied by the total weight of, for example, 14-carat jewellery.

For scrap gold, send an enquiry and arrange an assessment. The final offer depends on the established weight, fineness and current buyback price.

Current spot price less 7.5%.

When “Price on request” is displayed.

If a reliable current price is unavailable for a denomination, we display “Price on request”. Send an enquiry for that product and we will check the price and agree on the next step.

Contact us before visiting.

Select a product and denomination in the catalogue, or describe them in the contact form. State the number of pieces and condition, and the year of issue if known. We will review your enquiry and arrange an examination.

Photographs can help us prepare a valuation, but are not required for your first enquiry. If needed, we will arrange for you to send them later.

How buyback works

From enquiry to offer.

Find the series and denomination in the catalogue, or describe a product that is not listed. State the quantity and condition.

  2. Send an enquiry.

Contact us before visiting so we can check the product details and arrange an examination or valuation.

  3. Agree the buyback.

After examining your gold, we confirm the terms and final offer. We complete the buyback with your agreement.
